For more than twenty years, the performance experts at Mondraker have been building bikes capable of going fast, high, and wild off roads—continuing that tradition with the roll-out of their new gravel bike: the Arid Carbon RR. Read our interview with Mondraker’s product team to learn which saddle they picked to complete their latest launch.

FIZIK Why did you choose Argo X saddle for this specific bike?

SMM After visiting SR's office, it was clear that their team knows gravel like no other. Their expertise and passion for this specific cycling discipline were evident, and trusting their advice felt like a natural decision. The saddle we chose seamlessly blends performance, comfort, and aesthetics, perfectly aligning with the Arid.

FIZIK Choosing a saddle for a bike when you don’t know the end user isvery difficult. Could you tell us more on your bike/saddle match selection process?

SMM Selecting a saddle without knowing the end user is indeed a challenge, but our approach mirrors Fizik's philosophy: focus on specific applications and user scenarios. The saddle needs to excel in its intended use, whether that's gravel, XC or e-bikes. At the same time, we never overlook the importance of design. A saddle should not only perform exceptionally but also complement the bike’s overall aesthetic. It's a balance between functionality and visual harmony.

FIZIK What’s your favorite bike ever?

SMM For me, it has to be the Foxy Carbon 29 from 2015. It was our very first carbon enduro frame, and it played a crucial role in elevating our brand to a higher segment in the market, paving the way for our current success. In the image, you can also spot a Fizik yellow test saddle, which adds a nice touch!

FIZIK Any cool project you’re working on that you can share some details on?

SMM The Dusty was a milestone for us last year, and now with the launch of the Arid, we're continuing to redefine the gravel segment. Our interpretation of gravel is always distinct, pushing boundaries while staying true to our brand’s DNA. You can expect exciting developments in this category as we continue to explore and expand what gravel riding means for Mondraker.
